Sub-Arctic Canadian Shield Explore the northeast corner of Alberta and the Precambrian rock that makes up the province’s only claim to the Canadian Shield. This is a Fly-In & Canoe out trip. Recommended trip length is 5 days. Depart from Fort Smith Northwest Territories. Canoe the Leland Lakes to the Slave River Excellent Fishing for Lake Trout, Northern Pike and Walleye. Wildlife viewing opportunities include Black Bear, Moose, Wolf, Lynx, Beaver and Bald Eagles. Take a side trip into Wood Buffalo National Park.
