The local Hunters and Trappers committee operates this hunt and Adventure Northwest is the booking agent for these committees.  Therefore, we do not actively operate these hunts from within the community from which you hunt and only act as your agent when dealing with the community. On occasion hunts do not work out exactly as the hunter thinks they should and thus this must be resolved with the community before the hunter leaves his hunt. As your agent we will be directly involved with assisting you resolve any issues.

Hunting Conditions:

Hunting is done from outpost camps in prime areas, which may be up to 100 miles from the nearest Inuit community.

This hunt could be considered “the toughest hunt left in North America” and likely in the world. Mentally, physically and environmentally you will be challenged to your limits. 10 – 14 days living on the “Top of the World” with nothing between you and the elements except what your are wearing and a light 10 oz canvas tent. This can only be described as challenging.

Still the majority of our hunters succeed in having the opportunity to take a trophy home. We hunt importable bears out of Holman. All of our Holman hunts now involve charters flights.  This is a result of what we have found at Wynniatt Bay which is shows that as we get farther from the community and “local hunting pressure” there is an increase in the number of bears seen  and size of the animals is larger as well.  We are very excited about our efforts to increase the overall quality of this hunt. In 2004, 16 out of 17 hunters took bears

Jeff Stohr kept a journal of his hunt in 2002. It is great reading and shows the physiological highs and lows that you can expect to experience on this hunt. It is included with this kit for those that would like to read it. I highly recommend it to all those planning on going Polar Bear hunting and it will be sent to those booked to hunt Polar Bears with us in the future.  Another excellent source of information for pre-hunt preparation is the viewing of Ken Wilson’s (Sportsman on Film) video “Loaded for Polar Bear”.  It shows footage of a bear hunt from both Holman and Pond Inlet.  Contact us to obtain a copy of this video.

If the client has not been successful within the allotted time extra hunting days can be arranged at the community for those hunts that do not involve chartered aircraft support. The cost of these extra days is payable directly to the local Hunters and Trappers Organization.
