Bear Report 2008

A late spring and cool conditions could not keep the bear hunting action form heating up.

Our first week – May 10 -17 - 4 Mile Lake Base

Ken Longacre, PA taking 2 good brears with his bow and getting oh so close, to a Bison! Pat Jones, NB took a nice bear of our famous trapper cabin stand.

May 17 – 24 - 4 Mile Lake Base / Slave River

Louis & Nick Menotti, TX - scored on 4 bears in 3 days! One of Louis bears was exceptional and will score high B&C.

Father and Son team – Clinton & Jim Harris, WA - Had a blast touring the slave river with guides Derek and Bill. They connected on some great River bears.

June 2- 9 – South Leland Lake Outpost camp

Returning hunters Nick and Dan Frederick of Americana Expeditions hunted at our outpost camp on South Leland Lake. With some members of this group hunting this camp in 2000 and a few new faces to join in, we knew they would be in for a great week. A late ice out did not slow things down as great bears and awesome fishing mad for a complete adventure.

June 4- 11 – Boquene lake Outpost camp

This hunt was planned as a special trip for 5th trip with us John Davis, NC and hunting buddy(4th trip with us) Heriot Wilkins, NC. as Heriot’s son Meredith would be joining in with friend Andrew Dempster for their first hunt. Unfortunately John and Herriot had to cancel at the last minute and only Meredith and Andrew could make it. Along with their guide Jon Hamilton the had incredible success taking bears the first and second day and finishing with their last bear on the 3rd day.

Both John Davis and Heriot Wilkins have rebooked the same camp for 2009. This will be the 3rd time that these two have hunted our outpost and we look forward to another memorable time.

Spring bear 2008 was a lot of fun. This is a casual and social hunt that has provided great memories over the years. Our northern springs bring sensational action to those willing to travel to the edge of nowhere in search of big bear action.
